Please note that the following assumes that you have already been provided with the installation files for Dimension via an FTP upload. If you need a copy of the install files - please refer to our article on obtaining install files for Dimensions .
To install Dimensions from an FTP folder:
Access the installation folder from the FTP location.
Move the folder across to the Desktop.
Unzip the folder and open it.
Open the file called DEFAULT.HTM file with Internet Explorer (if using a version of Dimensions below 2.50L).
This would then open up the main installation page where Accounts (Dimension), Data Checker, Converter, Import Utility, Administrator and much more can be installed from.
Note: When trying to install Dimensions (if using a version of Dimensions below 2.50L) by selecting ‘Accounts’, the following message would appear, ‘The Access Dimensions CD requires Microsoft® Internet Explorer version 6.0 or later. You can download Internet Explorer for free’. This means Dimensions requires a later version of Internet Explorer that is at least version six. To set this up:
In Internet Explorer, press F12 key. A new section will appear.
On the Emulation tab, on the left under Mode, use the Document mode drop-down and select a later version.
Refresh the page. The installation process should now be able to start.
Before installing Access Dimension, do make sure users are installing Data Checker as an admin user! As otherwise, after installing Data Checker certain functionalities will not work and will require un-installing the software again and installing. Dimensions is now ready to install. Select the Data Checker option.
Click Install Accounts.
Click Run. Another window may appear.
Click Yes option should the window pop up. The installer should now load up.
Click Next.
Enter the User Name and Organization and click Next.
Choose Typical/Custom install type and click Next.
Choose the destination for the program to be installed and click Next.
Click Install. The install will proceed.
Click Finish.
Note: if you are Dimensions 3.0 Hosted customer, you will not need to install Dimensions as it will accessible through Workspace. If you have had a new PC then Citrix Workspace would need to be installed by the following link.
