Changing the background image within Dimensions can be very helpful for a variety of reasons.
Easily identify different databases being worked on, i.e. a UK database and several other currency databases e.g. US/AUS etc. and all of these are worked on, on a regular basis but are having to constantly check the About screen to verify the database currently connected to or the company name. Changing the background image is done on a database level and therefore can make it easy to identify which database currently connected to.
To add logos or company images. This is quite common to brand the software as a tool the company uses.
Changing the Default Image
This will depend on what is required to change. If is it just the image for all of the databases that need to be changed, but don’t need to differentiate between them it is possible to amend the default image which is used. To do this:
Navigate to the default directory, the path will be C:\Program Files\Access Applications\Dimensions\Accounts\(Version Number here)\Background
Locate the DefaultImage.jpg file.
It is recommended to take a back up of this file.
Either save a new image as DefaultImage.jpg or amend the current one. If it is a new image file, it is required to be in JPEG format with a minimum image size of 1026x690.
Log into Dimensions as an administrator user (with access to System Options).
Click System, Options.
On the System Format tab, set the Background image to <Default>. This is now set for all users on this installation to use the DefaultImage.jpg.
Once this change is made, ensure that all users with other installations have a copy of this updated file. This can be done by the IT department or by manually copying this file over to colleagues.
Setting up an image for each database.
This process is similar to above but in this instance, it is key to have a separate image file created ready to use for each database.
Having created an image file to replace the background of a database, follow the next set of instruction to apply it to a database.
Log in to the test database as the systems administrator.
Click System, System Control Options.
On the System Format tab, click the red text under the Background Image, this will give the option to select an image to use.
As long as the images created have been placed in the Background folder location then it is possible to select the one required.
Once the background image has been selected and the settings saved, the new background image will be displayed.
Attaching an image from a Web URL Link.
This feature will allow you to change your background image directly through a Web URL Link.
