Note that the first time you install Dimensions, or log into Importer, on a PC the user must log in with the full user name rather than their user ID. This can be done via the More button on the login screen:
Click on the More >> button.
Enter the User Name
Enter the Password
Remove Data Link description
Select ODBC Data Link
Remove Database description
Select Database
Click on the Logon button
If you get the below error message, please make sure that you can check the mentioned first.
"Unable to log in to the Server, either your User name or Password is incorrect or you do not have permission to login. Please note that the password is case sensitive."
Once you have checked and verified the mentioned but are still unable to login into Dimensions, you can use Datachecker to restore that User. (This is very rare, but on occasion can happen.)
Important Note: Before doing this, it is highly recommend to speak to your IT and have a backup of the database taken. This is because changes made with Datachecker cannot be reversed.
To restore a User;
Log into the affected Database with Datachecker as SA
Click on Upgrade data for ACCESS ACCOUNTS tab at the top
Select Generate Users from Accounts Data
Read the message carefully and even take a screenshot to show all affected Users. Their password will then temporarily change to the first 10 letters of their name. For example, user John Smith's password will be 'JohnSmith', and user Samantha Johnson will have their password changed to 'SamanthaJo' (this only applies to non Windows Authenticated Dimensions Users)
Send out a message to all affected Users to log in the affected database and change their password
You can also try making the user that you have set up inactive by editing their user details and then resetting them up with the same user details. By editing the user details before you make them inactive, will mean that Dimensions will not recognise that as a duplicate user.
