Error - 'Printer not activated, error code -30' (Access Hosted Clients)

Updated over a week ago

Printer not activated, error code - 30 is the error which comes up if you try to print direct to the 'Access UK Ltd. PDF Printer'. This rebadged Amyuni PDF print driver is only designed for printing PDFs for Dimensions generated emails and will not work if chosen or defaulted to as a printer. Our redistribution license only allows it to be used programmatically by Dimensions and unfortunately there is no way to stop it appearing in the list of printers or from being ones default printer, so it is up to you to avoid using it.

The option 'Always use printer set on crystal report' within the System Control Options will override the printer chosen in Dimensions, and use the one saved on the ACD report. If the ACD reports are set to use the default printer, this option may then use the RDP session's default printer rather than the one chosen in Dimensions. You can try disabling the default printer set on the Crystal Report being used in Dimensions, which could be causing the issue, and try to reprint the invoice again. To do this:

  1. On the System tab, click Options, System Control Options

  2. On the Documents tab, next to Crystal Documents, click the blue arrow.

  3. Clear the Always use printer set on Crystal Report check box.

  4. Click Save.

If it is still going wrong with this option off then it could be that the printer selected is not fully compatible with the hosted RDP servers, and the choice is being reverted back to Access UK Ltd. PDF Printer after being chosen. You can check for this by returning to the printer selection window and checking that the correct printer is still selected.

You could also try selecting the printer from the Page Setup window, rather than selecting the printer before printing the invoice. It would also be good to try selecting a PDF printer to see if your printer is at fault, or something else within Dimensions. The Redirected Microsoft Windows PDF Printer is a good choice for testing as this does not require a physical printer. To change the printer in the Page Setup window:

  1. In the top left, click the red Dimensions icon.

  2. Click Page Setup

  3. Select a different printer from the list within the Name field

If Page Setup is defaulted to the Access UK Ltd. PDF printer when you first start Dimensions, this may be because there isn't a default printer on your local machine, and this is set as the default or only printer on the RDP server. The latest versions of Windows 10 come with a new printer option "Allow Windows to manage my default printer" which, if turned on, may be contributing to this. Please check for this option and if on, disable it and try to see if this resolves the issue.
