Service Packs

Service Packs

Service Packs are used to upgrade the application software between major upgrades and to avoid the need for the software to be reinstalled and re-registered.

No changes to the structure and content of the database will be included in Service Packs.

Only the System Administrator and Database Owner may apply a Service Pack. They must have Master status and they must have been given Service Pack Access in System Options .

Install

By default, Service Packs will install into a sub-directory called Service created within the directory where Access Accounts is installed.

When a User with the correct Master status and having Service pack access next logs on, his system automatically looks for Service Packs. If a service pack is found it will update the database.

Once this has happened, when other Users log on, the difference in Version number between their software and the database will be detected. Their application software will then automatically be updated before it can be used again.

If there is more than one Service Pack outstanding they will be processed in sequence.
