Prerequisites
Ensure everyone is logged out of Dimensions. This is a very important step as this patch will upgrade the system.
Take a full backup of the current database. It is important to have a fully working backup to restore to in case anything goes wrong. If unsure of how to do this, please contact your IT Administrator.
Take a backup of your library files i.e. C:\Program Files (x86)\Access Applications\Dimensions\Accounts\[Version Number]\ACCESS.lbr
Please Note: If you have a modified version of Dimensions, please raise a new case online to have the service pack applied
Recommendations
Ensure the Service Pack is installed on every machine which uses Dimensions.
Installing the Patch
Right-click on the Access icon on the desktop and select Properties.
Then under the Shortcut tab, click on Find Target. This will open up the Access root directory.
Within here there will be a folder called Service. Make a note of this directory to use during the install including the services folder i.e. C:\Program Files (x86)\Access Applications\Dimensions\Accounts\[Version Number]\Service
Run the Service Pack Application i.e. WinDmnsAccoSrvPak[Version Number]
When prompted for the target location, please use the directory noted down earlier in this process i.e. C:\Program Files (x86)\Access Applications\Dimensions\Accounts\[Version Number]\Service
Following the Installation
Log back into Access using the SA username and password (Ensuring you have administration rights to the software)
An update the database message will appear. Click Yes to this message.
A message asking to take a backup will appear. Click Yes if a backup has been made. Please ensure a full backup of the database has been made before continuing.
Another message will appear, informing that no one will be able to log in. It is important that no one is logged in to Access while this upgrade is taking place. If no one is logged in. Click Yes to this message.
It will then start to upgrade the system. This could take some time.
Once this is done, log back in using the SA credentials.
Once logged in, check the version reads the same as the one installed. This can be checked by clicking on the Dimensions logo in the top left and clicking on About Dimensions.
All machines need to be running the same version of the software. Simply repeat the process on each machine.
