Executive Desktop
What is Executive Desktop?
Access Executive Desktop is a business intelligence application that publishes Executive Summaries of your business, based on your accounting information.
This information is updated automatically, and is available to view in an Internet browser, or within your Microsoft Windows Active Desktop.
Executive Desktop can be used by any of your staff; they do not need to be an accounts user or even have the accounts installed.
Executive Desktop connects via an ODBC link to your Access Accounts data.
It draws the information from the Accounts data and places formatted Executive Summaries along with a coversheet onto your File Server.
Any viewing Terminal can then view these summaries using Internet Explorer or by configuring their Windows 'Active Desktop'.
When transaction summaries are being viewed, you can access additional information via links in the summary.
Windows Active Desktop
Windows Active Desktop is a feature of Microsoft Windows which enables you to display an active web page as your desktop wallpaper.
This enables your Executive Summaries to be available for viewing at any time, without the need to open a separate application, and you can configure an update schedule to refresh the contents of the summaries
A network connection is required to complete the refresh from the File Server and also to view the information using the 'Smart Tags' feature, however you can still view and work with all the Executive Summaries when away from the network. This makes it an ideal choice for users of portable computers.
