Update the AOI licence file or unlock key

You need to do the following instructions for registering the new licence on each AOI users computer. The way you update the licence file or unlock key depends on the version of AOI:

Note: If you're unsure what version you're on, you can view this following our article on what version you're on.

  • v5.7 or later: Apply licence file in AOI Registration.

  • v5.1 to v5.6: Apply unlock key in AOI Registration.

  • v4.XX: Apply unlock key in AOI Administrator.

Update the licence file for AOI v5.7 or later

  1. Launch AOI Registration.
    Note: If you only need to renew the licence, select Update existing then proceed with steps 2 to 4 and then from 6 to 8.

  2. Click Next then click Browse….

  3. Select the licence file then click Open.
    Note: If you’re running AOI via the remote connection, look for a folder with your name, or computer name as this links to your local PC where you may have saved the file.

  4. Click Import then follow the below depending on where your application is located:

On a local server

    1. Select Connect to a Microsoft SQL Server (via ODBC Data Link).

    2. Select the DataSource dropdown then select the datasource name that you use to log into Dimensions.

    3. Enter the username SA then enter the password.

Access hosted

    1. Select Connect to a hosted registration service.

    2. In the HTTPS Server field, enter aoilive.accessacloud.com or the specific URL if you’re using private hosting.

  1. Click Validate Connection.
    Note: A green tick appears if successful.

  2. Click Next then review the details.

  3. Click Finish then click Yes.

  4. Click OK.

Note: If you haven't installed AOI locally and it's on a server, you need to apply the licence file to each server via AOI Registration, as you have to apply a licence file to each user.

Update the unlock key for AOI v5.1 to v5.6

  1. Launch AOI Registration.

  2. Click Add Registration details then click Next.

  3. Check the Reference, e.g. DM0000 is correct.

  4. Check the Number of Users is correct.

  5. Replace the Unlock Key with the key on the email.

  6. Click Validate unlock key.
    Note: A green tick appears if the information is valid. If a red cross appears, check the details you've entered and click again until a green tick appears.

  7. Click Next then click Finish.

  8. Click OK.

When trying to apply the AOI licence, if you receive an error message stating 'The following error occurred whilst importing the licence. The ObjectManager found an invalid number of fixups. This usually indicates a problem in the Formatter.'

You need to ensure that the AOI version is the same as other colleagues, as everybody needs to be on the same version.

Update the unlock key for AOI up to v4.XX

  1. Load AOI Administrator then select Licensing.

  2. Check the Licence server details are correct.
    Note: User reference should in the form DMXXXX/No.of users.

  3. Click Connect to Licence Server.

  4. Replace the Unlock Key with the key on the email.

  5. Click Apply then click OK.

  6. Click OK.
