Install the FMS Connector to Upload Journals

The FMS Connector enables the standalone journal template to connect to Dimensions through a gateway when hosted. This article covers installing the connector when using Standalone Journals (where an Add-ins tab appears in AOI) in a hosted environment.

📌 Note: If using Dimensions 3, the SQL connector must be installed first by a consultant.

  1. Open the Hosted Client Installer folder.

  2. Open the 32-bit or 64-bit folder depending on your version of Office. To check, in Word, Excel, or Outlook, click File > Account > About — the bit version is shown there.

  3. Double-click the Setup file.

  4. Complete the install process: click Next, Next, Next, Yes, then Close.

  5. Go to the location where the install files are located. The default path is C:\Program Files (x86)\Access Applications\Access FMSConnector Service Client.

  6. Open the file FMSConnectorWCFWebClient.dll.config using XML Configuration File as the file type.

  7. In Line 6, replace the Value of Dim with your database name, then remove the trailing suffix — for example, if the database name is DIM123a4bc567890deLIVE001, remove LIVE001 from the end.

  8. If connecting to a Financials database, replace Dim with Fin in line 6.

  9. Go to lines 46 and 50 and change the Endpoint Address from aoi.accessaCloud.com to aoilive.accessaCloud.com.

  10. In Excel, open the Journal Template.

  11. On the Add-ins tab, click Journal Import, then Setup.

  12. From the Connection Type drop-down, select Hosted.

  13. In the Domain field, type CLOUD.

  14. Tick Remember My Username and Password.

  15. Enter the Username in the format: DM1234A.Smith.

  16. Enter the Password.

  17. If there is only one Dimensions database, tick Always connect to this database and enter the database name.

  18. If there are multiple Dimensions databases, tick Prompt user for database name. A selection window appears when uploading the journal.

  19. Click OK to save.
