To import journals using Excel.
Open Excel.
Click Add-Ins.
Click Journal Import, Set Up. A new window will appear.
Enter the ODBC Connection, which needs to be the same as the one used by Dimensions, and can be taken from the Dimensions log on prompt by clicking More.
Enter the Login Details, which must be the Dimensions username (not user ID) and password.
Select the Access Dimensions database.
Choose to either Prompt user for database name, which will always prompt to select the database name when performing an upload, or Always connect to this database, where its possible to specify a database name for the Journal Upload Template to use for all uploads.
Click OK to save the details down. The Login Details will be validated at this point a message on the screen will appear if they are incorrect. The Journal Upload Template should now be ready to use.
