Note: Ensure to be on the latest version of AOI, as this includes performance improvements. You can raise a new case online to confirm or request for the latest version of AOI.
If the AOI version is up to date, then this would be a performance issue due to the large amount of data attempting to be pulled. This can be dependant of the amount of resource available on the servers, as well as the number of users who have an active connection open in Excel, at the time the issue occurs.
In order to prevent this from happening and resolve the issue, there are a few options:
Use additional filters in the template to narrow down and specify the data that is required to be pulled.
Set the period range as L1 to N12 and then add in the appropriate category filters. This takes a short while to come through but the data should come out.
Note: It doesn't appear in the format of a pivot table.
Create a custom view which could be used to pull the required data out as per your needs - which would be made further optimised for performance.
However this would require consultancy (which may incur in a charge) as this cannot be done by Support.
