Run a Snapshot
A Snapshot runs checks across your accounts and reports on your trial balance. To run one:
Click System.
Click Company.
Click Snapshot.
Click Validate.
Confirm you want to validate the figures.
If the Trial Balance agrees in the Snapshot but not in the report, more than one nominal account may be involved. If the Trial Balance does not agree and the credit/debit side is greater by a specific amount, only one nominal account may be affected.
Trial balance difference
For any period, the trial balance should total to zero. If you have recently imported journals, check that the double entry is correct on all of them — it is possible to import one-sided journals. If you recently stopped using the multi-currency module, rounding accounts may no longer appear in the trial balance. If those accounts had a balance, it will not be included. You may need to post a two-sided journal to move the balance. When running the Trial Balance as a report, check that no accounts are set to Excluded from Record Reports. This setting is on the Account record under the Info tab and will cause the Trial Balance report to show incorrect totals.
Check the trial balance figures
If you see a difference between the figures on your trial balance and the figures on the enquiry screen when checking the debit values minus the credit values for the transactions, check the following:
The periods you're comparing are the same.
The account you're checking isn't a year end account.
If a difference remains after checking the same period and year end accounts, work backwards from the period the difference appeared in to find the last period where the figures matched. If the difference is in a closed year, adjust the records in the current period to account for it. Then contact support. See Get support in Dimensions. Include:
The affected nominal code.
The period and year when the figures last matched.
