Add an ODBC connection to my hosted database in Crystal Reports

Updated over a week ago

Crystal Reports requires its own configured connection to allow a report to access a given database without intervention, as would be required for example when using a normal manual login to a Dimensions database.

To set up a defined connection to the required database:

  1. Open an existing report or create a new one within Crystal Reports

  2. Click Database, Set Datasource Location

  3. Next to Create New Connection, click the plus + icon.

  4. Next to ODBC (RDO), click the plus + icon.

  5. Select the required server name

  6. Click Next

  7. Enter User ID

  8. Enter Password

  9. Use the drop-down and select the required database

  10. Click Finish. This connection now provides access to tables from the chosen database.
