After installing Transaction Broker you will need to setup ODBC Link due to the following reasons:
Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) is a programming interface that enables applications to access data in database management systems that use Structured Query Language (SQL) as a data access standard.
The ODBC Datasource points to an application (e.g. Microsoft Access) Database. It then reads the specified data from this Datafile into the target application.
Transaction Broker uses the 32-bit ODBC interface to connect to source databases.
Using the ODBC Administrator in your Control Panel, or clicking on the button on the Datalink window, you must set up a System or User Data Source to link to your source data files.
Note: System Data Sources are available to all users of your PC, whereas User Data Sources are available to the current user only. File Data Sources are not used in Transaction Broker
βIf the data source you want to add requires an ODBC driver that has not already been installed, you will need to install this first using the driver's own setup program.
Open the ODBC Administrator program from Control Panel and select the appropriate DSN Tab (see note above) tab.
Click on Add... to display the Create New Data Source window.
Select the appropriate ODBC driver and click on Finish.
A window is displayed allowing you to configure the data source.
Give the data source a name and description (optional) and use the Select... button to locate your database.
You can assign a Username and password to the DSN by clicking on the Advanced... tab.
Click on OK to save the record.
