Crystal Reports documents taking a long time to load to screen

Updated this week

The long processing time could be affected by the printer that was saved with the report.

  1. Is the printer a printer that all users still have access to? If not, then you can edit the report and change the printer to a current one (you would need access to the Crystal Reports designer software).

  2. There is also an option in Dimensions to use the printer set on the Crystal Report - if this is turned on and this is needed, then all the affected reports will need to be edited.

  3. If this system setting is not needed, then you can change the page setup on the reports to be 'No printer'. You will need Crystal Reports designer software for this.

If you do not have the Crystal Reports designer software, then please raise a new case online and reference the title of this article.

It could also be due to the Crystal Report Print driver needing a different version.

To change the Crystal Report Print driver:-

  1. Close Dimensions.

  2. Launch installer for Dimensions (or add remove progams, choose Dimensions and then to modify) it will recognise you already have this version installed and bring you to a Modify, Repair or Remove window

  3. Select Modify and click Next. A list will appear.

  4. At the bottom are the Crystal Reports Print Engine options. The one without a red cross is what version is already installed.

  5. To select the driver to install, click the red cross icon and select This feature will be installed on local hard drive.

  6. On any other crystal reports print driver versions listed that do not have a red cross, click the icon and select This feature will not be available.

  7. Click Next.

  8. Click Install.

  9. Click Finish to complete the change in Crystal Print driver being used when next launch Dimensions.
