Nothing happens when trying to print an ACD Document

Updated over a week ago

This is usually caused by the user permissions on the PC in question. You will need to make some checks on the system to establish the cause of the issue (note that you may need your IT department to assist with this).

  1. Run Dimensions as an administrator (Right-click, run as administrator) to check whether the document prints as expected. Is it does, compare the permissions of the user with the issue with a user that is able to print as expected.

  2. Ensure that the ODBC Connection being used is set as a System DSN, and not a User DSN.

  3. Ensure that the ODBC connection is set as a 32-bit connection

  4. Ensure that Dimensions has been installed as an administrator (it may be necessary to remove and reinstall the software if is was not installed using administrative permissions.

The issue can also be caused by having a printer with known issues selected. To resolve this issue:

  1. Click the red Dimensions icon in the top left corner

  2. Click Page Setup

  3. Change the printer to one that's known to work (for example, Microsoft Print to PDF)

You should now be able to print to screen with a different printer selected.

Check if a printer has been set for the Crystal Reports. This can usually cause issues if a printer that doesn't exist has been set on the reports. To check this:

  1. Go to System, System Control Options

  2. Go to the Documents tab

  3. Click the blue arrow next to Crystal Documents

  4. At the bottom-left of the window, you should see an option called Always use printer set on Crystal Report. Disable this and try printing again.

The enabled version of Crystal Reports on the machine can also cause this issue if it is not the correct version for the Crystal Reports used. If this works OK on another machine then check the version of Crystal Reports enabled on that machine and then ensure the same is enabled on the non-working machine. This article has details on how to check and amend the enabled Crystal Reports version.
