Nothing happens when trying to print an ACD Document

This is usually a permissions issue on the PC. Work through the checks below to identify the cause. Your IT team may need to assist.

  1. Right-click Dimensions and choose Run as administrator. If the document prints correctly, compare the permissions of the affected user with those of a user who can print without issues.

  2. Confirm the ODBC connection is set as a System DSN, not a User DSN.

  3. Confirm the ODBC connection is a 32-bit connection.

  4. Confirm Dimensions was installed using an account with administrator permissions. If not, uninstall and reinstall with the correct permissions.

The issue can also be caused by a problematic printer being selected. To rule this out:

  1. Click the red Dimensions icon in the top left.

  2. Click Page Setup.

  3. Change the printer to one that works — for example, Microsoft Print to PDF.

If this resolves the issue, the original printer was causing the problem. Also check whether a printer has been saved on the Crystal Report itself. If a non-existent printer is saved on a report, this can prevent printing. To check:

  1. Click System > Options > System Control Options.

  2. Click the Documents tab.

  3. Click the blue arrow next to Crystal Documents.

  4. At the bottom-left, locate the Always use printer set on Crystal Report option. Disable it and try printing again.

The enabled Crystal Reports version on the machine can also cause this issue. If printing works on another machine, check which Crystal Reports version is enabled there and ensure the same version is enabled on the non-working machine.
