Error - 'Another user processing/allocating/posting/reconciling transaction or editing project/order '

Updated over 2 weeks ago

If you are getting any of the following errors:

  • Error Another user processing transaction appears when I try to process a transaction. How can I resolve this? I have already checked with my colleagues and no one currently has the transaction in question open.

  • Error Another user allocating transactions when trying to do a sales ledger period end.
No-one is currently allocating, how do I clear this message?

  • Error Nominal Ledger transactions entered by user X are currently being posted (where X is the user name), when trying to get to the Nominal Batch following a system crash while a journal was being posted.

  • Error Another User is currently posting the Nominal Ledger Batch when trying to post a batched journal.

  • Error Another User is already reconciling transactions to this Nominal Bank when trying to reconcile.

  • Error Another user is currently editing this Project when trying to edit project records.

  • Error This Order is currently being processed by another user! when trying to delete/edit a batched order.

  • Error Some selected transactions are being processed by another User. Do you want to continue to process the other selected transactions?

  • Error Some selected Orders are being processed by another User. Do you want to continue to process the other selected Orders?

This would indicate that someone has not closed Dimensions properly while processing a transaction, this could be because of a power cut or the machine being closed while in this process.
Transactions include, but are not limited to:

  • Purchase Ledger Cheques

  • Purchase Orders

  • Sales Orders

  • Bank Reconciliation

  • Sales Ledger

  • Project Records

Note: Do not use this routine if a period-end or year-end has crashed or frozen. Please log a new case online in this instance.

The steps below show how to clear multi-user flags:

  1. Login as the ‘sa’ or 'Hosting Admin' or a user with an equivalent or master security profile.

  2. Ensure all other users are logged out of Dimensions Accounts.

  3. Check if people are logged out at System Control, Users, User Records.

Note: Make sure to have taken a recent back-up of the Access Accounts Database (If unsure how to do this please contact the IT service provider). If you are Hosted customer, then the backups are done every 15 minutes from our side.

  1. Now go to System Control.

  2. Click on Data Utilities button.

  3. Click on Clear Multi-User Flags.

  4. In the ‘Multi-User Flags’ window, tick the ‘All Multi-User Flags’ tick box.

  5. Select the Green Tick.

This will run through and clear all the multi-user flags in the Accounts Database.

Note: Please make sure to read any messages that may pop-up during the process.

Tip: If using the 'All Multi-User Flags' option does not work, try selecting the affected Module and System options and running them individually.

This error can also be resolved by posting the transactions but should you find this still does not resolve your issue, please raise a new case and reference the title of this article.
