Enquiry Window Options

Click the Options toolbar button to open the Options window: here you can customise some of the features of the Enquiry window.

The options are User specific and specific to each Enquiry window.

List Colours

The colours used to highlight the different lines in the Enquiry window can be changed. Click on the colour bar to open a colour palette; click on a colour square to select.

A different colour is applied to:

  • Selected Lines - default is Sky Blue

  • Current Line Outline - default is Mid Purple

  • Transaction Lines - default is Transparent

  • Expanded Level 1 and 2 (Detail Lines) - defaults are Light Yellow and Yellow, respectively

  • Forecast Periods - default is Red. This is only shown on the P&L All Periods Nominal Summary.

Select the toolbar Reset Colours button to return to the system default colours.

Display as

This is a drop down list where you can choose the format for numeric column values. The drop down list comprises:

  • units (the default) e.g. 10,900,800.00

  • tens, e.g. 1,090,080.00

  • hundreds, e.g. 109,008.00

  • thousands, e.g. 10,900.80

  • millions, e.g. 10.90

You are also able to tick Show Decimals. If ticked, then the number of decimals configured for values in the database are shown. If unticked, then no decimals are shown. Where no decimals are shown, then the value is rounded to the nearest whole unit. The default is on.

When the window first opens

Make a selection as to which transactions are loaded when the Enquiry window first opens.

Load transactions for all years all periods - this is the default for new databases but may result in a lot of transactions being loaded.

Load transactions for the current period - the Open Period for the ledger.

Load transactions for the current Working Period - based on today's date.

Load transactions for current year all periods - all periods in the current year.

Limiting the transactions that are loaded should make the display quicker and other periods can easily be loaded from the Period menu.

The Do not show transactions option will open the window without loading any transactions. The window will open in List Definition mode enabling you to use the filters and enter search criteria to limit the transactions that are displayed.

Maximum List Size

A maximum size can be entered for the list. This will automatically restrict the size of the list without having to make any other selections or entering search criteria. However, this may mean that the record you require is not displayed immediately, in which case you can use the Next icon on the toolbar to display show additional records.

The benefit of entering a maximum list size is that the list will always be restricted to a manageable size.

The initial limit will be the system default, as entered in the Drill down Maximum List size field on the System Options - System Format tab.

Enter a numeric value for the list size. If you enter 0, no limit will be applied.
