Set up Stock Locations in Dimensions

Updated over a week ago

The term stock locations within Dimensions actually refers to stock sub analyses.

These Sub Analyses act as "storage locations" for stock within individual Stock Records.
This allows users to keep track, of Stock availability at different warehouses or storage facilities, within Dimensions.

Creating new Sub Analysis
In order to setup sub analyses the user will need to:

  1. Create a Stock Record.

  2. Select it in the stock record list.

  3. To the right of the Code magnifying glass, click Type and select Sub Analysis.

  4. In the ribbon, Record section, click Sub Analysis.

  5. In the ribbon, Window section, click Insert.

  6. If the required warehouse, lane and row can be added using the Magnifying glass next to the descriptor and select the correct code.

  7. Enter the relevant details in the rest of the tabs. (For more information and detail on these click on the help function in the Sub Analysis Bar.)

  8. When complete, click Save. A new Sub Analysis Code will be automatically generated based on the Warehouse Row and Lane.

If the warehouse, lane or row do not already exist then the user will need to:

  1. To create a new Warehouse, Lane or Row click the magnifying glass next to the correct descriptor.

  2. Click Edit icon.

  3. Enter the new Code and Description then click Save icon.

  4. Select the new code.

Note: Once a Stock Record has been created and used the type cannot be changed into a sub analysis record.

The user will now have a Stock Location created for that Stock Record.

Duplicating Sub Analyses
The duplicate function can be used to easily add this location to other Stock Records with Sub Analysis:

  1. Go to Stock Records.

  2. Select a Stock Record that does not have an existing sub analysis that is present on another stock record.

  3. In the ribbon, Record section, click Sub Analysis.

  4. In the ribbon, Window section, click Duplicate.

  5. At the bottom of the Duplicate window, click the magnifying glass and search for the Stock Code which has the necessary sub analysis.

  6. Double click the stock record to populate the Stock Code field. A list of Sub Analyses on that Stock record will be listed.

  7. Select the Sub Analysis or multi-select many records to be copied over.

  8. Click Green tick OK icon. A dialog appears.

  9. Click Yes.

  10. Repeat for all necessary Stock Records.
