update Stock to Nominal (Stock Movements)
Stock Movements and Stock Takes will use a Stock Type Analysis code to update the value of the Stock shown in the Balance Sheet.
When moving stock in, the double entry will be:
Dr Stock Control (Balance Sheet)
Cr Cost of Sales (Profit & Loss)
This will be done via a Stock type analysis record in the Purchase Ledger. This analysis code can be selected on Stock Movements and Stock Takes. If a VAT code has been set on the analysis record it is ignored for these transactions.
Do not update Nominal
If the system option to Update Stock to Nominal is selected, the Stock transaction option Do not update Nominal is available.
If selected, a Stock Analysis code is not required and the Nominal Ledger will not be updated.
If NOT selected and the Stock Analysis code is left blank, the transaction is batched and cannot be updated until the analysis code is completed or the option is set by editing the transaction.
Stock Take
The Stock Take routine can now be produced as at a chosen period, for reconciliation with your Balance Sheet valuations.
Sub Analysis Transfer
Sub Analysis transfers that have different analysis codes will update the Nominal Ledger. Those that have the same analysis code will not generate a Nominal Ledger update.
Example:
The sub analysis is used to record location and the locations are London, Birmingham and Paris.
An analysis of UK is used for sub analysis stock in London and Birmingham.
An analysis of FRANCE is used for sub analysis stock in Paris.
No Nominal Ledger update would take place if stock was transferred from London to Birmingham; both halves of the transaction would be posted to the same accounts because the two sub analyses use the same analysis.
The Nominal Ledger would be updated if stock was moved from London to Paris
