When trying to delete a Dimensions user, I am getting the error 'Error (0) an error occurred deleting the Active Directory user the error reported is:' (Hosted Access Client)

Updated this week

The reason for the error is that our hosted environment will prevent the deletion of user accounts that are linked to Access Dimensions as it is likely they have created transactions. Once a transaction is created, an audit history that includes the user that interacted with that transaction is also created. Removing users can create issues with transaction histories, particularly if the user was also part of integrated products (such as FocalPoint).

We strongly recommend against removing users from Dimensions for this reason. Instead, we suggest the users are added to a security profile that does not have any access to Dimensions (usually called a leavers profile). For advice on how to create a leavers profile, please see our article on create security profiles

Please be aware that the Dimensions licensing is for the number of concurrent users on the system at any given time, rather than the total number of users, setting users against a leavers profile will not use one of your user licences.
