Transaction Broker - The Parameter File

Updated over a week ago

When launching Transaction Broker for the very first time, the user will be prompted to specify a parameter file with the extension .df1.

If you cannot locate an existing file, if you have a colleague that has it already working, do the following:

  1. Open Transaction Broker on your colleague's PC

  2. Click Help

  3. Click About Transaction Broker

  4. Click on the System tab

  5. Note the location on the line Datafile Location

  6. Now back on your PC, go to that location and select the .df1 file

If the user already has a file saved elsewhere, simply click on the Open button to use that file. Transaction Broker will then check to see if the parameter file is a valid Transaction Broker parameter file (i.e. not an Accounts or Payroll datafile).
If the file is not a valid parameter file, Transaction Broker will display the message:
This is not a valid Transaction Broker parameter file

Alternatively, click on the New Data File button for the system to create a new file.

Once the user has started using a file, it is always possible to change the file later on, by clicking on the Change the parameter file button on the toolbar. The system displays a warning message asking if you are sure you want to change the parameter file.
Click on OK to continue and the standard Change Data File window is displayed. (From this window the user can select an existing parameter file or, by clicking on the New Data File button and create a new parameter file.)
