How to make a Nominal Code Inactive (standard nominal ledger)

Updated over a week ago

Note that making a nominal code inactive will prevent the account being used in any transaction or setting in Dimensions, It will not be possible to set a nominal account as inactive if any of the following apply:

  • It present in a sales or purchase analysis code in either the debit, credit, or VAT fields

  • It is referenced in a batched Journal.

  • It is referenced in an analysis code on batched sales or purchase transactions (including orders)

    • Note that this applies even if the analysis record has been changed. If the nominal was in the analysis at the time the transaction was batched, you will need to carry out the following before you will be able to set the nominal as inactive

      1. Update the analysis code

      2. Edit the transactions in batch and re-apply the analysis to set the updated analysis

To flag a Nominal Account as inactive:

  1. Select Financials, Accounts (ribbon menu) or Nominal Ledger, Records, Accounts (classic/module menu)

  2. Find the relevant nominal account and select Edit

  3. Select the Info button

  4. Tick the Inactive button

  5. Save the record
