Error - 'This Record is currently being used and cannot be flagged as Inactive' when trying to make a nominal account inactive

This may be for several reasons. When a user tries to make a Nominal account inactive because they no longer use it, the system does several checks in the background.

Check the following items to try and locate the reason for receiving the error message:

  • Is the Nominal account being used in a Nominal Category?

  • Is the Nominal account being used as Year end Update account?

  • Is the Nominal account being used as a Currency Year end Update account?

  • Are there any batched nominal transactions that use this Nominal code?

  • Are there any uncompleted recurring journals that use this Nominal code?

  • Are there any Sales Analysis codes that use this Nominal code?

  • Are there any Purchase Analysis codes that use this Nominal code?

If these have all been checked and you have been unable to find anything, please raise a new case online and reference the title of this article and please include details of the nominal account to be made inactive.
