Set up a new currency and exchange rate?

It is possible to add multiple trading currencies to your database. Note that your unlocks for Dimensions must include the 'Multi-Currency' feature.

Please follow the steps bellow, they are based on the 'Ribbon' menu style in Dimensions:

How to add a Currency

  1. Select the System tab

  2. Within the Currency section of the Ribbon menu, select Currencies

  3. Within the Window section of the Ribbon menu, select Insert

  4. Select the red text in the box in the top left hand corner, then select either "EU Currency" or "Non-EU Currency"

  5. Select the red text in the box in the top right hand corner, then select either "Direct Rate" or Triangulated Rate"

  6. Enter a Currency Symbol

  7. Enter a Nominal Suffix, this must be a three digit number and cannot be used against any other trading currency.

  8. Press the Tab key. This will open a new window that shows you all of the default nominal codes that will be created/used by this new currency.

  9. Press the Save icon

  10. Select the magnifying glass next to ISO Code, this will open a new window, double click on the desired code.

  11. (Optional) add a Description

  12. Within the Window section of the Ribbon menu, select Save

When saved, the system will show a reminder to set up a relevant exchange rate for the currency.

How to set an Exchange Rate

  1. Select the System tab

  2. Within the Currency section of the Ribbon menu, select Rate Maintenance

  3. If you have just created a currency, the rate line for that currency will have already been created

  4. Select the rate line you would like to set

  5. Select the Edit icon at the top of the window

  6. Enter the relevant information and then select the Save icon at the top of the window

The new currency rate is now set up.
