Assembly Movements
This function is used to build a stock of Assembly items, or to set up opening Stock, or to adjust Stock levels.
The Movements option displays a Transaction entry window, with a menu bar which enables you to select how you are going to build the Assembly.
Please Note: If you do a single build of a serial-tracked sub assembly, you can then choose Multi-build but will need to build from Top. If you try to build from bottom (the default), the system will see the item as already in stock, but if you build from top, the system will see the sub assembly as part of multi-build assembly and continue with the build.
e.g. Assembly A1 and Assembly A2 (which is serially tracked). Assembly A1 is comprised of Assembly A2 and component C1. Assembly A2 is comprised of Components C2 and C3. If you attempt to multi-build A2 from bottom (the default) you will receive error 'some movements have not been posted' with no way to correct the error. If you try to single-build A1 again you get an error 'serial xxx is already in stock'. If, however, you multi-build from Top the system finds an A1 and continues successfully with the build.
If you are building an Assembly which uses Serially tracked Components, it is not possible to select the Serial Number of the Component at the time of building the Assembly. The Serially numbered Components will be selected in the order in which they were entered onto the system.
Before using this function you should check the settings in Stock Options concerning Create Stock/Component Movements when building Assemblies.
Header window
The window defaults to Single level build, so if you wish to create Multi-level Assemblies, you should pull down this menu and select the Multi-level build option. The Build from Bottom/Top options will then become active.
Single level build: Only builds this Assembly, even though there may be lower level Assemblies contained in this Assembly.
Multi-level build: This will build all levels for this Assembly. The two options below then become available:
Build from Bottom: This works from the base components, and ignores pre-built sub-assemblies that may be components of the assembly being built.
Build from Top: Uses everything, even if Assemblies have already been built, to make the maximum quantity at the top level. However, as soon as any Sub-assembly or Component has insufficient Stock, the build ceases.
Note: The option that you select will be remembered, and will affect the Check Availability Transaction Report next time this is run.
Build as much as possible: If this is selected, the system will build as many as possible using available Stock.
Do not build if insufficient: If there is not sufficient Stock to build all the requested quantity, no build will occur.
Make all the selections you require by opening the menu and ticking the options.
When using Update Stock to Nominal, an additional option is available on the Header window, Do not Update Nominal.
If selected, Stock Movement Transactions will be generated for the Components when an Assembly is created but no Stock update to Nominal will occur even though the system option to Update Stock to Nominal is switched on.
If not selected, adjustments will be made to the Balance Sheet values.
Complete the information required on the header window; when you tab out of the Description field, the Detail window will be displayed.
Detail window
The Assemble menu contains the option Disassemble, so that you can process the Stock Movements required to Assemble or Disassemble the stock item.
Select the stock item and the quantity required. The stock record quantities window can be opened from the Available button.
All the detail lines for this stock movement will be displayed in the Movements Total window which can be displayed by clicking the Totals button on the Header or Detail window.
Totals window
Single clicking a line on this window will display further information relating to that movement detail line in the lower part of the window.
Double clicking on a line will return to the Detail window and display that line, allowing it to be edited.
Delete Line button This will delete the currently highlighted line.
Clicking the OK button, or pressing the enter or return keys on your keyboard ends the transaction and displays a message before saving to disk.
Clicking the Cancel button abandons and clears the entire movement transaction.
The Availability button enables you to run the Check Availability function without leaving the movements window. The availability can be checked for the selected single line or for all detail lines.
Workflow Forms on Transactions
Any WFF associated with the transaction will automatically display as a popup window for initial entry. Existing WFF can then be edited by clicking on the Workflow Form button. If no WFF is associated with the transaction, the window will not display.

The transaction Header - the WFF will display on initial tab off, and can also be opened by clicking the Workflow Form button.
Transaction Detail lines - the WFF will display on initial tab off to a new line, and can also be opened by clicking the Workflow Form button.
The transaction Save - the WFF will display when clicking Save.
