When entering a Detail line for an assembly type Stock item on a Sales Order, this window can be opened from the button alongside the Works Order options menu displayed on the Detail window.

From this window you can:

Associate the current detail line of the order with an existing Works Order if one exists for the same Stock item. This will be the default if there are existing Works orders for the same Stock item.

Or, you can create new Works Order for the detail line. This will be the default if there are no existing Works orders for the same Stock item.

The window is divided horizontally. Select the appropriate option by clicking on the radio button or it's label.

This option enables you to link a Sales Order with an existing Works Order and to increase the quantity to be produced by that Works Order.

This option will only be available if there are existing Works Orders for the same Stock item.

You will not be able to increase the quantity of a Works Order that has already gone into production but if there is enough Free WIP available you can still associate a new Sales Order with the Works Order. The 'increase quantity' field will be disabled.

Works Orders that are locked by another User will appear with a padlock image and will not be available for association.

A list of available orders will be displayed, showing these details:

Works Order No - the Sales Orders that have already been associated with a Works Order can be viewed by: selecting the Works Order in the list and clicking the button. The detail window will also include the Works Order production notes.

Locking icon - a padlock icon will be displayed alongside any Works Order that is currently being used by another User.

Quantity - the production quantity of the Works Order.

Free WIP - the quantity in production that has not been specifically associated to Sales Orders.

Due Date - the estimated date that the Works Order will be completed.

User Id. - the Users who created the Works Order.

Route - the production route assigned to the Works Order.

Sort Key - the Sort key assigned to the Works Order.

This is the suggested value that you should increase the Works Order by to produce sufficient Stock to satisfy the Sales Order.

This value can be changed. Negative values cannot be entered.

If a quantity that is less than the minimum build quantity is entered, the minimum build quantity will be ignored automatically.

This field will be disabled if the Works Order has already gone into production but, if there is enough Free WIP available, you can still assign the Sales Order to the Works Order.

Free WIP describes the quantity of a Works Order that has not been specifically associated with Sales Orders. Free WIP can be associated with new Sales Orders or put into stock upon completion.

This option enables you to create a new Works Order in order to produce the Stock required to meet the Sales Order.

The Works Order detail entry fields are:

Quantity - the production quantity of the Works Order.

This will default to the quantity entered on the Sales Order, adjusted by the batch and minimum build quantities from the assembly record.

The batch quantity and minimum build quantity for this stock item will be displayed for information.

Production due to be started on - The date displayed will default to the Required date from the Sales Order less the duration of production as entered on the assembly Stock record. The start date may not be later than the completion date.

Production due to be completed on - The date displayed will default to the Required date from the Sales Order, this can be changed.

Assigned to route - enter, or select from the pop-up list, the production route to be used.

Automatically allocate available components - tick this option to allocate available components to the Works Order.

Sort Key - You may enter a Sort key for the Works Order.

Priority - You must assign a priority level to this Works Order. Lower numbers indicate a greater priority: The highest priority is 1 and the lowest priority is 99.

Notes - This will default to display the notes that have been entered as default BoM Notes on the Stock record

A Kitting list can be printed from the Print icon. This report will show the current stock levels and requirements for the assembly stock item selected on the Sales Order.

Kitting List This is a report which is based on a single works order including or excluding child works orders, showing the required components versus allocated and available to allocate. For each works order, it also details how many of the required quantity it can build from the current stock holding of components available.
