The Transaction pane

The Transaction pane

The transaction pane is available in all three of the Enquiry window modes. The transaction pane is where the transactions are displayed.

The transaction pane has two modes, Expanded or Collapsed.

When the Enquiry is opened and transactions have been retrieved for display, the transaction pane is displayed in collapsed mode. Each row in the pane contains the details from one transaction header, each column is labelled with its contents.

Expanding Transactions to show Detail lines

Selecting a transaction, by clicking on it, highlights it with a colour. For Header lines the default is blue.

Multiple lines can be selected by using the Shift or Ctrl key when selecting.

Clicking on the arrowhead icon on a header line, selects that line and expands the transaction to display the Detail lines it contains. The default colour for Detail lines is cream.

When a Detail line is selected (by clicking on it) it is highlighted with blue.

When a transaction has been expanded to show both the Header and Detail lines, an additional heading row is displayed to give the column headings for the Detail rows. The Detail row headings are highlighted in the same colour as the Detail lines, the default is cream.

Clicking on the arrowhead will select the line and collapse the transaction to hide the Detail lines.

Expand All This icon can be used to expand all the transactions to show the Detail lines they contain.

Use this option carefully Selecting to expand all transactions in a long list can result in unnecessary waiting time.

Use the filter and search options to limit the list to just those transactions you are interested in or click on the arrowhead to expand just the transactions you are interested in.

Collapse All This icon can be used to collapse all the transactions and hide the Detail lines, returning the transaction pane to show just the Headers lines.

Resizing columns

The columns have two types: fixed and variable.

The fixed columns are those to the left on the transaction pane. When the horizontal scroll bar is used to view columns to the right of the window, the fixed columns will remain visible and the variable columns will move behind them.

The variable columns are those to the right of the transaction pane that can be viewed using the horizontal scroll bar.

Resize variable columns

The variable columns can be resized by moving the cursor to the line between two headings. Select the line on the right-hand size of the column you wish to re-size. When the pointer changes drag and drop the edge of the column to the width you require.

Resize fixed columns

The column widths for the fixed columns can be changed from the Resize Tree Columns window, opened by right-clicking on the column headings. The column positions you select can be saved.

Resize Tree Columns

Open the Resize Tree Columns window by right clicking on the transaction column headings and selecting the option from the menu that is displayed.

The fixed column headings for the Header rows and the column headings for the Detail lines are displayed.

Resize the columns by moving the cursor to the line between two headings. Select the line on the right-hand size of the column you wish to re-size. When pointer changes to a split pointer, drag and drop the edge of the column to the width you require.

Click OK to save the settings and close the window.

Save Divider Positions

This option is found on the same menu, from a right click on the transaction column headings. This enables you to save adjustments you have made to the column widths so that when this Enquiry window is opened again it is in the format you require.

Reset to Default

Select this option from the menu to reset the size of the columns to the default.

Column sizes

  • Data in the columns should not overlap when making the column narrower.

  • However, if you resize the first column to be smaller than the data requires, the text in column 1 may overlap the data in column 2.

  • This limitation is to allow for the display the 'Totals for...' line and to avoid this line becoming truncated.

Changing the order of the data displayed

You can click on any of the column headings to sort the list according to the contents of that column. An arrow head icon will indicate whether the column is sorted in increasing or decreasing order.

To sort transactions in increasing/decreasing order by the value in the Debit and Credit columns at the same time, press the SHIFT key and click on either column heading.

In this case the icon indicating the direction of the sort will appear on both columns at once.

Selecting Quantity

On the Customer Profit Enquiry window you can select whether to view the details by Order Quantity or Invoiced Quantity by clicking on the arrowhead View button on the right hand side of the column headings menu bar.

On the Stock Profit Enquiry window you can select whether to view the details by Delivered Quantity or Ordered Quantity by clicking on the arrowhead View button on the right hand side of the column headings menu bar.
