CIS - HMRC Comms (Match/Verify responses)
HMRC Communications enables the automatic transmission of information to HM Revenue & Customs via the Internet. When HMRC Communications have been set up and activated, you will be able to match and verify your subcontractors from within Access Accounts.
Match and Verify requests are processed via the Request Match/Verify window.
Processing by HMRC may take some time, so to avoid you having to remain connected to the Gateway, you can check for responses at a later time.
This is done via the Match/Verify Requests option.
When response messages are received, they are loaded into the Match/Verify Responses window so that you can view the details and update the subcontractor details.
The messages returned in response to your Match and Verify requests will be loaded into the window.
If the UTR in the response can be matched to the UTR in a subcontractor record, the Supplier code from the record will be displayed in the first column and the line will be set to Yes indicating that the record can be updated.
The details on the line will indicate the status of the subcontractor and the tax treatment to be used.
You can print the contents of the window as a report by selecting the print output and clicking Print.
You can use the printed report to update your records manually or you can update the records automatically by clicking OK.
All the responses that are set to Yes will update the Supplier records. If you do not want a record to be updated you should change the update status to No by double clicking the line or using the select buttons above the Yes/No column.
The Tax status will always be updated if a reply is received a UTR held in a Supplier record.
If you requested a Match and a match was found, the Tax Status will be set and the Date Matched field completed.
If you requested Verification, the Tax Status will be set to Higher and the Verification number field will be completed.
