Error - 'The User ID has not been recognised, please use the More button to log in'

The first time Dimensions or Importer is installed on a PC, the user must log in using their full user name rather than just their user ID. Use the More button on the login screen:

  1. Click More >>.

  2. Enter the User Name.

  3. Enter the Password.

  4. Clear the Data Link field.

  5. Select the ODBC Data Link.

  6. Clear the Database field.

  7. Select the Database.

  8. Click Logon.

If you see 'Unable to log in to the Server, either your User name or Password is incorrect or you do not have permission to login. Please note that the password is case sensitive.', check the credentials and try again. If the issue persists, you can use Datachecker to restore the user. This is rare. ⚠️ Warning: Changes made with Datachecker cannot be reversed. Take a full database backup before proceeding. To restore a user:

  1. Log in to the affected database in Datachecker using the SA account.

  2. Click the Upgrade data for ACCESS ACCOUNTS tab at the top.

  3. Click Generate Users from Accounts Data.

  4. Read the message carefully and take a screenshot showing all affected users. Affected users' passwords are temporarily changed to the first 10 characters of their name — for example, John Smith's password becomes 'JohnSmith', and Samantha Johnson's becomes 'SamanthaJo'. This applies to non-Windows-authenticated users only.

  5. Ask all affected users to log in to Dimensions and change their password.

Alternatively, edit the user's details, then make the user inactive and recreate them with the same details. Editing before making inactive prevents Dimensions from flagging the account as a duplicate.
