The Refresh, Update and Edit buttons are only available in specific circumstances. Check the relevant section below for your situation, then work through the troubleshooting steps if the buttons remain unavailable.
When the buttons are available
Access Analytics:
A data extract has been run, and a cell is selected on the worksheet that the Pivot table appears on.
Templates:
A data extract has been run, and a cell within the range of the data returned is selected.
For Update, the option 'Enable changes to be written back to Access Accounts' must have been selected in the template being used.
Journal Upload Template:
A template has been generated, and a cell within the sheet it sits in is selected.
Costing:
There is an existing configuration available in the drop down.
If the relevant criteria above are met but the buttons are still inactive, work through the following:
Check for background processes
Close Excel.
Open Task Manager.
Check whether an Excel process is still listed.
If it is, click the process and click End Task.
Open Excel, set up an Update Template, and confirm whether the buttons are now active.
Turn the Access tab off and back on
In Excel, select File, select Options. The ‘Excel Options’ window appears.
Click Add-ins.
Use the ‘Manage’ drop-down and select COM Add-ins.
Click Go. The ‘Com Add-Ins’ window appears.
Untick Access Office Integration For Microsoft Excel.
Click OK. The Access tab disappears after a few seconds.
Click OK. Repeat steps 1 to 6, but this time select the entry ‘Access Office Integration For Microsoft Excel ’
Confirm whether the buttons are now active.
Check the Update button on a new worksheet
Click the + icon to create a new worksheet.
Click Setup Update Template and recreate the template that doesn't have the Update button active.
Check if the Update button is active on this sheet.
If it is active, the original sheet is corrupted. Delete it and use the new sheet instead.
Check the template cell range
If the selected cell is outside the defined cell range for the template, the buttons become inactive. Click a cell within the cell range for them to work. To find the cell range:
Click a cell near the start of the sheet that enables the buttons.
Click Edit. The defined cell range for the template is shown.
Check the AOI software is residing in a compatible environment
Check that your AOI version is compatible with the installed versions of Windows, Office, and Dimensions. See Compatibility with Windows, SQL, Office etc.
