Recurring journals will not let you change this on the transaction, however you can control the year/period it next posts to via:
Select Financials then in Transactions select Post Batch and Recurring
On the Batch Selection window (small window on right) you have options to change the Post to
Select the year/period the selected Journals next post to.
Double click the transaction to process and tick the Green tick.
