TUK(s) Stands for Transaction user keys
Transaction User Keys enable you to define and attach unique, or predefined, identifiers to Transaction Detail lines. These keys can then be used by third party tools, such as Crystal Reports Professional, to select and sort data for reporting purposes.
For example: you wish to identify all the transactions that relate to a particular construction project so that you can produce a costs report using Crystal Reports. Attaching a Transaction User Key to each transaction for the project will enable you to do this, offering simple costing-type functionality.
Transaction User Keys are not used within Dimensions reports but can be entered as search criteria on Enquiry windows.
Creation of the Transaction User Keys
Navigate to System
Options
Transaction User Keys
To set up the details:
Click on Insert (or Edit) to display the Transaction User Keys record window,
Tab to a new empty line (or select the TUK you wish to Edit),
Enter the Description,
There are up to 5 TUKs to which you can assign your item. Each item can be assigned to one, or more, TUKs.
Flag the Ledgers and/or Module for which the key is available. You can select more than one.
For example, the construction project mentioned above is the construction of a children's playground comprising 5 zones (swings, a slide, a balance beam, a cargo net, and a climbing frame), and each zone of the playground will require Rubber Safety Mats. Therefore you may want to assign TUK 1 as the Swings zone, TUK 2 as the Slide zone, and so on. For each zone you could create a Description for each of the items you need to Purchase for each zone, with the Rubber Safety Mats common to all zones.
