Are legacy protocols TLS 1.0 and 1.1 and SMB 1, 2 and 3 required for Dimensions

Updated over a week ago

If using Dimensions versions 2.60a and above then TLS versions 1.0 or 1.1 can be switched off as theyse versions use TLS 1.2

If you a using a version of Dimensions prior to 2.60a then HOTFIX-1785 would need to be applied. Versions before 2.50h cannot have this HOTFIX applied and must continue using the legacy TLS protocols. Note that HOTFIX-1785 requires a minimum .NET Framework version of 4.7.2, which should be installed first if necessary. This HOTFIX installs differently from most of our HOTFIXes and simply requires the replacement of 4 files in the Dimensions installation folder.

SMB is the Server Message Block protocol which is used for printer and file sharing across networks, so these are the areas most likely to fail if these protocols are turned off.

Dimensions itself does not use these protocols directly but other related integrated components may do which could be an issue if the local datafile is located on a server on your network, rather than being local to your machine. Crystal Reports 9 and 11.5 may also use these protocols if using network printers or rpts.
