View a list of Nominal Transactions

Updated over 2 weeks ago

There are a number of different ways to collect and view information on nominal transactions in Dimensions:

Dimensions Enquiry Screen

  1. Go to the Home tab in Dimensions.

  2. Click the Financials button and select Nominal Transactions.

  3. Select the Down Arrow in the top left of the screen and set an appropriate period range

  4. Then choose what to filter it by (if appropriate) using the search fields at the bottom of the screen

  5. After this click the Display button on the top bar for the lines to come up (note: the period range and filters chosen will affect the speed at which your details are returned - the less specific the periods and filters, the longer the screen will take to display your results)

  6. You can print this by clicking the printer icon on the top bar and choosing relevant print options or send it into Excel using the Excel button.

Crystal Reports

  1. Go to the Financials tab.

  2. Click on ACR.

  3. In here are various reports that may give the details required.

  4. The nominal journals all transactions reports are the most likely to be relevant in this case.

Dimensions Reports

  1. Go to the Financials tab.

  2. Click on Transactions.

  3. Select the Journal Reports.

  4. Click on All Transactions.

  5. You can then choose relevant general criteria for the report.

  6. Simple Search will allow you to further filter the data

  7. Once you have selected relevant criteria, select the green tick and it will print the report.

Access INXL

If you have the ACCESS INXL add-in for Microsoft Excel, you can also use this to fetch Nominal transactions via the Enquiry option under the ACCESS INXL tab in Excel. You can also use the Access tab within Excel as well, using the Setup Update template and pulling through Nominal Transactions. You can look at this article on how to create the template.

If you do want to filter on specific financial Periods and the normal Nominal Transactions window does not give you this data, then you may need to have the setting 'View Transactions Enquiries by Year ID' selected. To do this:

1. Click on the System tab
2. Click Options
3. Click onto System Control Options
4. Click onto System Format
5. Tick the box for View Transaction Enquiries by Year ID
6. Press Save
