Credit Control Options
The Credit Control Options in Options enable you to:
Select a Default Bad Debt Analysis.
Define number of Overdue days.
Create new Debt Statuses.
Allocate a specific User to act as the Credit Controller for debts with a particular Debt Status.
General tab
Default Bad Debt Analysis - Enter or select the Sales Analysis that should be used by default when writing off Bad Debts. This analysis code will appear at the foot of the Write Off Bad Debt Search window when you select to write off bad debts.
Overdue - Enter the number of days after the due date that classifies an invoice as Overdue. You can enter any numeric value up to 9999. An invoice is classified as being Current until it's Due Date is reached. The Due Date is set as part of the Customer Terms. An invoice is Due when it has reached the Due Date. An invoice is Overdue when the date has moved beyond the Due Date by the number of days entered here. The terms Due and Overdue are used by the Credit Control module to help you to locate the debts that require chasing.
Debt Status tab
On the Debt Status tab you will be able to assign a User to be the Credit Controller for debts with a particular status.
Enter the User ID or select it from the User List which can be opened by clicking the lookup icon.
There are three statuses, Current, Due and Overdue, that are calculated by the system.
The system statuses cannot be deleted or moved. You cannot change the order of the three system statuses.
You can add new statuses with your own description to enable you to categorise outstanding invoices in more detail. Each status you add can be assigned to a Credit Controller. The order of the added statuses can be changed using the arrow buttons to indicate the order of their usage.
