Check Availability

Check Availability enables you to find out the quantity of Assembly stock items that are currently available, or that can be built and made available.

Selecting the option displays a window in which you can build a list of the Assembly type Stock Records for which you wish run the check.

  • Enter the code for the Assembly Stock record, or click on the Stock Search button to display a list of valid codes for Assembly Stock items and select from this list.

  • Tab from the Code field to the Quantity field and enter the number of items you require.

  • Or, click the O/S Orders button to display a list of the Outstanding Orders list for the selected Assembly Stock item.

  • Select the Orders that you are attempting to fill by double clicking on the order in the list.

  • This will change the status of the line to Yes and add the quantity of the order to the quantity field on the Check Availability window.

  • Close the Outstanding Sales Orders list to return to the Check Availability window.

  • Tabbing from the Qty field will copy your entry into the list to the left and clear the entry fields.

  • Enter another Assembly Code and quantity.

  • Repeat this process until your build list is complete.

  • You can clear the list you have created by clicking the Clear function or by closing the window.

  • When your list is complete, click on OK to run the Check Availability routine.

  • A new window will open to display the results.

The results of the Check Availability routine will be displayed. For each assembly you selected, the table will display the quantity needed (as entered on the initial window), the quantity available and the quantity that can be built.

Initially, just the assemblies for which you have run the check will be shown in the top pane of the window. The sub-parts for the assembly selected in the top pane will be displayed in the lower pane.

Explode

Show Full Explosion Displays all the Components of each Assembly that is shown in the top part of the window.

Selecting an assembly in the top pane and clicking the Explode function, will run a check for the number of sub-assemblies that can be built. This information will be added to the upper pane.

Selecting a sub-assembly in the top pane, if one is now displayed, and clicking the Explode function again, will run the same check for the selected stock item.

Selecting an exploded assembly and clicking Restore will reset the display to it's unexpended state.

Show Sub-parts

Show Sub-parts Only displays the Assemblies and Components at one level in the BoM structure. (This is the default).

You can use the Show Full Explosion option on the Show Sub-Parts menu to quickly display all the components of the selected assembly.

Assemblies are always marked with an '*’. Selecting any assembly in the top pane will display the sub-parts in the lower pane.

Results

The results given by the Check Availability routine will also depend on whether you selected to Build from top, or Build from bottom, the last time that the Assemblies Movements function was used; the system remembers the setting that was used.

To change this setting you will have to post an assembly movement. This can be a real movement or, if you just want to change the setting, you can either post a build and un-build or have a dummy assembly set up with no value so that you can post a movement without changing your stock.

The calculation of the Can Build quantity will always use the quantity of Physical Stock reduced by stock that has been allocated out to existing orders.

Check Availability Report

Clicking the print function displays an output selection window and allows you to choose the output for the report and the level of detail that will be included within the Report. .

The report will include one line for each Assembly Record entered in the list and will show the number of items that can be built. You have the option to Show Full Names, this will print the full name for each Assembly and Component Record.
