A Template Type Stock record is a special type of Stock item, one that is not to be used in Transactions, but has been set up to be copied (using the Duplicate function), to create new stock items.

This is a time saving technique; if you have complicated Stock items the basic setup can be stored and reused.

When you create the Stock record, select Template from the Type menu.

To list all the Template type Stock records, click on the Template function on the Stock Record window. The Stock Records list will open displaying just those Stock records of type Template.

Template type Stock records can be duplicated in the same way as other Stock records.

Locate the Stock record to be copied and click on the Duplicate function button on the record window.

A new record will be displayed containing all the static data from the Template record, including the Selling and Buying Prices and the Sub Analysis records. The cursor will be in the Code field, which is blank.

A new, and unique, Code should be entered.

Edit and Save the new Stock record.
