Price Matrix - Standard

Price Matrix - Standard

Selecting Price Matrix Standard displays a window that allows unique selling prices to be entered for every combination of Customer and Stock Record.

This facility supplements the ten Selling Prices already available within each Stock Record and the multiple discounts available within each Customer Record.

The matrix can be ignored for Customers that fit within the standard Price and Discount structure.

Configure the Matrix

The matrix is configured within the Stock Options in Options.

  • The Price Matrix is designed to concatenate two items of information to produce a unique code.

  • By default, the system will use the Customer Code and Stock Code.

e.g. Customer code C10, Stock code DRBITS will produce a record with Matrix code C10DRBITS

  • Instead of Customer Code and Stock Code, the system can be configured to create the matrix based on other record field combinations, including Sort Key and User Sort Keys 1-3, for Customers and Stock.

These are selected on the Stock Options - Price Matrix tab card.

  • The Price Matrix code is stored as a concatenated field which may cause you some problems if the record fields you are using are similar. We would recommend that you consider the resultant codes before selecting which fields are to be used in the matrix.

  • Once configured, the Price Matrix allows selling prices to be entered for every combination, e.g. every combination of Customer Code and Stock Code.

Important note: As soon as matrix entries have been created, the configuration cannot be changed except by deleting all the entries and starting again.

The examples in the Help will refer to the default combination of Customer Code and Stock Code.

Create the Matrix

Info.: This shows the Date the Matrix was created, and the Date that it was last amended.

Matrix Code: Clicking the lookup button by the Matrix Code will display a Price Matrix list.

Customer Code & Stock Code

Selection, or entry, of Customer Code and Stock Code enables the System to create the contents of the Matrix Code field. The Matrix Code is a 'display only’ field which can be used to Find unique Matrix Records.

Remember: The Price Matrix code is a made up of the values from two fields, in our example the Customer Code and the Stock Code. If these codes are too similar this cause some confusion when selecting prices in transactions.

For each unique Matrix Record the System enables you to enter:

either one Fixed selling price

or up to ten Percentage discounts, one for each of the ten Selling Prices held for each Stock Record.

Price Matrix Record Type

Clicking the Fixed Price menu button pulls down a menu with the options:

  • Fixed Price Fixed Price Discount - Type = F

  • Percentage - Price Show Discounted Price - Type = P

  • Percentage - Line Discount Show Line Discount - Type = L

Selecting either of the Percentage types will change the field prompt for the Matrix value to Percentage 1 or Line Discount 1 and will display a list of percentages.

Tabbing from the Fixed Price field allows entry of a Budget Quantity and Budget Value for the Sales Budget (for the lifetime of the matrix record).

Tabbing from the Percentage 1 or Line Discount 1 field will copy the percentage you have entered into the adjacent list and then rename the cleared field Percentage 2 or Line Discount 1 ready for your next entry.

When the record is saved the system calculates the value of the Matrix Code field by concatenating (in this case), the Customer Code and the Stock Code, and displays it on the record window. This field will be unique.

Note:

In the SOP Detail window when a Price Matrix record is selected that has type 'L' (Line Discount), the item Price remains unchanged but the Line Discount is shown so that you can see it - this will overwrite the Line Discount in the Customer Terms.

For example:

Item Price is £100 with a 10% discount.

SOP detail will show this as Price = £100 and Line Discount = 10%.
