Carbon Usage Category List

Carbon Usage Category List

The Carbon Usage Category window contains a list of Emission Groups and the associated Classifications to select as a default value for the Nominal Ledger account marked as Account for Carbon.

The list is displayed as a tree structure showing the Emission Group at the top level which can be expanded to show the related Classifications. Only those Emissions Groups and Classifications which are effective on the current system date are shown in the list. This effectivity depends on the Effective from date in Carbon Conversions tables.

The Carbon Usage Category list window is opened by clicking on the Category pop up icon on the Nominal Account record window. This pop up icon only becomes available if you select the Account for Carbon option.

To select a Carbon Usage Category:

  1. On the Nominal Ledger account which is marked as Account for Carbon, click the pop up icon, the Carbon Usage Category List is displayed.

  2. To select an Emission Group, highlight it and click the OK button or double click that Emission Group. The field on the record is populated with the 2 digit code of the Emission Group that you have selected.

  3. To select an Emission Group and Classification, expand the list for the Emission Group by clicking on the '+' icon, the list of all the associated Classifications is displayed. Select the specific Classification by double clicking on it or highlighting it and clicking the OK button. The field on the record is populated with the 6 digit code for the Classification that you have selected.

Once a Nominal Ledger account has been flagged as Account for Carbon and an Emission Group/Classification selected, then the Emission Group/Classification field on the Carbon Transaction will be populated automatically with the code from the record.

You may change the default selection to another Emission Group and Classification by selecting from the drop-down lists.

If the record only contains an Emission Group, you will have to select the appropriate Classification before you can complete the Carbon Transaction.
