Use the search field on the top of record list and enquiry screens

Updated over a month ago

For each Dimensions Cloud record list and enquiry, there is a search field at the top right-hand side of the screen itself with a placeholder guiding you so you know what data you can search on.

For example on the Customer Records screen accessed by clicking on Debtors then Customers, the search field has a placeholder of 'Start typing Customer Code or Name'. On each different screen you will see different placeholder text in the search field.

We will go through 2 examples below, one for a record list and another for an enquiry, but you can use the steps below to get to the search field on any Next Generation screens.

Use the top right-hand side search on the screen on the Supplier Records screen

  1. Click Creditors then Suppliers.

    • All suppliers in your database are displayed.

  2. On the top right hand-side of the screen, click into the Start typing Supplier Name or Name field.

    • When you use this search, please be aware that this is what we call a Begins With search, so you must know the first couple of characters of either the supplier's name or code.

  3. Type in the first couple of characters of the supplier's name or supplier code and while you are typing, you will see the screen refreshing with the records that match the search criteria you have entered in the search field.

    • On this field you can only search for supplier name or code.

You can search for the beginning of each word in the available quick search fields, no matter where they are.

Example:

If you wish to search for an Account Name of "The Access Group", you can now enter the words "The", "Access", or "Group" and Financials will intelligently find this result.
Note: This search contains a Begins with search on each word, and is available for the Account Name, Nominal Accounts, Nominal Code, Project Code or Asset Code, and excludes the Header Reference and or Order No.

The enhanced search is available for the following Next Generation screens:
