Asset Manager: Export to Dimensions getting Error 'Unable to post Journal, no Lines have been sent...The error message is too long to process...'

Updated over a week ago

This is normally caused by the user set in the Dimensions link for Asset Manager not having sufficient multi period posting rights in Access Dimensions.

To check the user account that is set for the Dimension link:

  1. Select System, System Defaults

  2. Select the Access Link tab

  3. Make a note of the user account specified in the link

Please carry out the following process check that the Dimensions Nominal Codes that Asset Manager is trying to export to are active:

  1. Financials

  2. Accounts/Chart of Accounts

  3. Find the nominal code/s

  4. Check the inactive box is unticked

The setup should be as per the below.

Within Dimensions

  • Ensure the 'sa' user sits on a duplicate profile of the default MASTER, which has full Future Posting Permissions enabled.

  • Ensure that your own user record has future posting permissions enabled on the profile you sit on too, in line with your requirements.

Within Asset Manager
Ensure the Access Link Configuration is set with the sa user. To do this, navigate to:

  1. Select System, System Defaults

  2. Select the Access Link tab

  3. Ensure that the sa user is set within here.

In addition, ensure your user record within Asset Manager's User Records is setup correctly.

Note:
Dimensions and Asset Manager would need to be on the same year/period, or at minimum, Asset Manager must be the same or behind the Dimensions year/period.
This means that Asset Manager would only be able to post into the Dimensions open period or a future period.
If force costing is enabled for any nominal accounts, costing information must be entered within the transaction otherwise the above error will show when exporting.
