ADM - My barcodes are not being scanned in correctly

Updated this week

When scanning in barcodes the barcode itself needs to be as clear as possible, there are many factors that help improve the quality of the barcode, for example making the barcode bigger in length on the report so the bars are more clearly defined.

Another cause of this can be when the length of the transaction audit number (aka primary key) has increased, for example from 5 to 6 digits, causing the full barcode to no longer fit within the printable area of the label. To overcome this, it might need the font size of the barcode reducing in the barcode Crystal Reports file Barcode.rpt, to enable the full barcode to fit. How much to reduce it by will be a trial-and-error process. See the article Find the ACD Document location? for details on where to find the Crystal Report template.

If you need further help with producing clear barcodes, please raise a new case online and reference the title of this article and please include details of the barcode report being run.
