ADT - Submitting a VAT Return in Dimensions following the install of Access Connect

Updated over a week ago

Once Access Connect has been installed, the VAT return feature in Dimensions will be disabled.

The following error message will appear when attempting to run the VAT return in Dimensions:

The application was unable to insert into the table, SYS_TAX_AUDIT, successfully. The error retrieved from the server was :
37000:[Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 11.0][SQL Server]Because you have a Dimensions integration with Access Digital Tax, you can no longer do VAT returns in dimensions. Please use Access Digital Tax for your VAT returns 37000:[Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 11.0][SQL Server]The transaction ended in the trigger. The batch has been aborted
If possible we would advise you to complete your VAT return in Access Digital tax through the bridging method (Excel file upload) or using the access connect feature.

As a last resort it is possible to use a temporary workaround, allowing the VAT return to be run in Dimensions. However, it is imperative that the figures and references are checked very carefully to protect the integrity of the data.
A VAT return can be run in Dimensions by following these steps:

  1. Select the System tab.

  2. In the VAT section, select VAT Return, VAT Return.

  3. Click Print icon.

  4. Ensure the correct periods have been selected.

  5. Change the VAT Reference to ADT-<Date> . For example, “ADT-260419”.
Note: It is crucial for the VAT Reference to contain “ADT-" as this will help to understand and identify the VAT return.
