Edit a project code

To edit a project:

  1. On the Costing tab, click Project.

  2. Use the Next and Previous arrows, the Find option, or the list view to locate the project.

  3. Click the project to select it.

  4. In the main ribbon, click Edit.

  5. To change the status, click the current status and select the new one from the drop-down. The project status can be changed as often as needed.

  6. Once you have made your changes, click Save in the main ribbon.

  7. 📌 Note: You may be prompted to update the cost centres linked to the project to match the new status.

If you cannot change the status, the error message explains the reason.

If batched transactions are preventing a project code from being set to Active, you can either:

  • Delete the batched transactions, then re-enter and post them after the project has been made active.

  • Temporarily amend the batched transactions to use a different project, change the project status, then update the transactions back.

You can also use the Reopened status. Dimensions allows you to change a project status to any option except Complete and Estimate while batched transactions exist against it. A warning or confirmation prompt appears before the change is saved. If Dimensions is integrated with FocalPoint, the same change may be possible from FocalPoint depending on its rules. Contact the FocalPoint support team for guidance.
