Populate the Custom tab for a nominal account record

A guide to capturing additional information on a nominal account record using the four custom field groups available on the Custom tab.

You can capture more information about your nominal account record using the Custom fields on the Custom tab of a nominal account record.

As default on a new database, you can only see 2 custom fields which accept 100 alphanumeric characters, however more can be added and where more custom fields have been configured for your nominal account records, you will see more fields available for you.

There are 4 major custom field groups which are:

  • User Characters allowing 20 alphanumeric character entry.

    • There are 6 user character fields that can be set up.

  • User Numbers allowing 14 alphanumeric character entry.

    • There are 3 user number fields that can be set up.

  • User Dates which allows you to select a specific date.

    • There are 3 user date fields that can be set up.

  • User Flags which allow you to have a checkbox against date or records.

    • There are 3 user flag fields that can be set up.

Populate the Custom tab for a new nominal account record

To populate custom fields for a customer record, follow the steps below:

  1. Click Financials then click Accounts.

  2. Click the + New Record button at the right hand-side of the Nominal Accounts screen.

  3. Click on the Custom tab and enter the relevant details and once you are done, click Save.

    • Note: You must enter a Code before you can save the nominal account, otherwise you will receive a validation message requesting you to add a code.

      • If the Name field is set up as compulsory field for nominal accounts, you will also have to provide the name before you can save.

Populate the Custom tab for an existing nominal account record

  1. Click Financials then click Accounts.

    • Note: All nominal accounts are displayed for you. You can narrow down you search using advanced filters. You can also search on the columns directly by pointing the mouse to the name of the column and click on the 3 small horizontal lines and choose from the available filter list, then click OK.

  2. In the Code or Name column, click the hyperlink, the underlined text to put the nominal account record into edit mode.
    ​Note: The Action Panel automatically opens from the right-hand-side of the screen. You can close the panel by clicking on the arrow icon on the right-hand side middle of the screen.

  3. Click the Custom tab and enter the relevant details and once you are done, click Save.
